We had decided to sleep in the car the night before so as soon as I got up I just drove on into Boston. Kayla was in for a surprise when she woke up, since we were in Boston and no longer at a rest area. Boston was a short trip for us mainly because of how hot it was and how we both hadn’t showered yet, but we did take in some of the Freedom Trail, drove around to some key places after a homeless man sang to Kayla asking for change and commenting on her pink hat and dress. We left shortly after to spend some time in Harvard. Which we walked the campus and enjoyed how beautiful it was and seeing the historically buildings and statues along their campus.
After leaving Harvard we headed for Maine, were lots of suggestions came to us. We started out hitting up Kennebunkport, ME at a place that Lisa recommeneded called Mabel’s. It was amazing! Kayla had her first cup of clam chowder and I experienced my first lobster roll, so it was pretty much a win win situation. If your ever here you should give it a try, its great food and great hospitality.
When we left Kennebunkport, ME and headed to the Maine State Prison, a recommendation by Mrs. Myers. This was an amazing place and saw some really neat works of arts and probably spent a little too much money. But they had handcrafted boats, lamps, games, desks, chairs, etc it was amazing.
After leaving here we stopped at a gas station and unfortunately found our create your own candy bar submerged in water in the cooler, and was very saddened by that since we hadn’t even had a taste of the candy yet, but we attempted chocolate cpr and they now have a small pulse, and in the recovery room. Hopefully they will make it for a few more days.
We then headed to Bar Harbor, were we found out quickly that we should have booked a room months in advance. We drove around for a while to try to find a hotel, got some help from Lindsey and decided that we should just hang out downtown for bit and enjoy the little bit we had left of the night. After enjoying it so much we searched for a near by hotel with the help of Angela. We headed to Bangor to shower and relax for a bit and hopefully head down to enjoy the morning life and the early afternoon before hitting the road for the Finger Lakes!
